Development programmes

Strategic leadership at Oxford

This programme provides individual support to the most senior leaders and managers, such as Heads of Division, Pro-Vice-Chancellors and senior administrators. It begins with a one-to-one discussion with Sharon Neal, Head of Professional Development, to discuss the individual’s approach to his or her role and career plans. Following that, one-to-one coaching, participation in top-level external programmes, and tuition on specific topics can be arranged as desired.

Please contact Sharon Neal to set up a preliminary meeting.

Induction for Heads of Department and Faculty Board Chairs

The Institute has developed a light-touch induction programme for those new to, or soon to take up, the role as Head or Chair. The programme involves a series of workshops and briefings from academic colleagues and senior administrators with experience of working at headship level; and, in addition, there is opportunity to arrange one-to-one support.

Academic leadership development programme

The Academic leadership development programme provides an introduction to what is involved in leadership within academia, and an opportunity to explore academic leadership. The programme is open to all academics who are established in their teaching and research work and who are either already making a contribution to leadership within their area or are wishing to do so in the near future. We particularly welcome staff from groups currently under-represented within leadership at Oxford, including women and members of minority ethnic groups.

This programme complements the leadership mentoring programme for women, Ad Feminam.
