An Introduction to Teaching and Learning at Oxford

Who is this for?

Oxford Essentials is an annual one-day induction event for newly appointed academic, teaching and research staff.

What does it cover?

The aims of the day are to:

  • welcome you formally to the University
  • introduce the workings of the University to those of you who are new to Oxford and/or to the UK, and to provide essential, need-to-know information
  • provide you with networking opportunities and to signpost important resources and sources of support
  • introduce you to teaching at Oxford

The event includes a formal welcome to the University by the Vice-Chancellor, presentations about the University and workshops about different aspects of teaching and learning at Oxford.

Requirements for the course

Academic, teaching and research staff who are new to the University in the past year.

Medical Sciences Teaching Centre, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PL (see map).
