  1. A short talk on the different libraries that you can use and what they offer;
  2. Hands-on training in the use of Oxford’s union catalogue, its stack request function and electronic resources;
  3. A short tour of the Bodleian Library.

Format: talk and tour
Intended for those who are new to the University as well as to those who wish to find out more about what the University Library services has to offer.

Learning objective(s)/outcomes
By the end of this session you can expect to:

  • Have an understanding of how Oxford University Libraries operate and how they might be useful to you.
  • Have hands-on guidance in the use of the OLIS catalogue, the automated stack request system, and the electronic resources accessed through OxLIP.
  • Be familiar with ways of finding out more about library resources.

Because of the age of the Bodleian buildings, this session will involve much walking and climbing of stairs. Please contact the Services Team if this would prevent you from attending this session, in which case an alternative itinerary will be arranged.

If you would like a hands-on training session in the use of library resources, please go to the Bodleian Reader Services Training and Courses webpage for more details.
